Here’s our roundup of the latest news from the world of TV and film:
Insidious Gets A Threequel
After a strong opening weekend in the States, Sony has announced plans for an Insidious 3. However, director James Wan might not be back at the helm after admitting he was done with horror movies. Speaking to Moviefone he said “I’m going to go on record and say I am finished with the horror genre, The Conjuring and Insidious 2 are my two last scary movies. Hollywood puts you in a box. If you do a successful comedy, then you’re known as The Comedy Guy. If you do a successful car chase movie, then you become that guy. So I’m a student of cinema, so I just want to make sure I get the chance to make other kinds of films” However, while Wan says that now, things may change, especially if he is given a good deal to return to direct.
Jamie Lee Curtis Returning To The Horror Genre
Jamie Lee Curtis looks set to be returning to her horror roots after teaming up with Halloween H20 director Steve Miner for a new horror drama, on ABC Family. Entitled The Final Girls it follows a group of young women who have survived their own personal horror stories who are brought together by a mysterious older woman (played by Curtis) to channel their experiences in service of the greater good. It should be said that the show hasn’t even been given a pilot order yet, but the network is apparently keen on the show so it could well make its way to our TV screens.
Sopranos Alum To Replace Ziva on NCIS?
After Cote de Pablo announced she was leaving her role as Ziva on the CBS juggernaut NCIS (and shocking plenty of fans by doing so), the show has been on the hunt to find a replacement, and rumour has it they may have found her. The Sopranos alum Emily Wickersham, who played AJ’s girlfriend Rhiannon during the HBO show’s final season, has been cast as Bishop for an initial three episode deal, with the possibility of becoming a series regular (presumably if she is popular with the fans).
Machete Kills Trailer Released
Check out the red band trailer for Machete Kills. The film stars Mel Gibson, Lady Gaga, Sohpia Vergara and a whole host of other stars. It also shows a lot of gore, some interesting deaths by helicopter and features a heavy dose of swearing too. While you can check it out below, we recommend that it is only suitable for those aged 18 and over due to its content. Those of a nervous disposition have been warned…
